After years of apparent disinterest, uveal melanoma has finally 'come onto the radar' of large collaborative organisations and institutions, who have used high resolution ‘omic technologies, to reveal a better understanding of the underlying biology - and to discover potential targets of this rare cancer. The latest scientific advances in this field and how they provide some optimism for improved clinical outcomes will be reviewed.
